Aviator- Prima’s I-95 Male

Our first breeding project, as a company, was pairing the male pheno we dubbed Aviator (which is Triangle Kush x Legend OG x Stardawg IX2) with some of our favorite cultivars. The i95 F2 breeding took place on the East Coast by a talented breeder, and you can find her work here

The Aviator project was a large breeding project which covered over 24 crosses that we are slowly testing and releasing over time.

Cannabis seeds are an important part of genetic sharing, building, and preservation. With tissue culture preservation, and by flowering over 100 varieties at a time, Prima has the ability to sift through large populations.  Each flowering cycle has only one purpose:  to select the finest genetics. This process is commonly called ‘pheno-hunting’ – where the end result is not flower sales, but genetic selection and refinement.

The Aviator line was chosen as the flagship to be a breeder’s line of cannabis seeds. The male donor exhibited stability, strong structure, and a very heavy flowerset (high yield). The Aviator line is regular, photoperiod seeds and makes excellent breeding stock.

“We chose the mothers based upon either their production capabilities, or their flower quality. We tried to make it both, but as you know - sometimes the absolute best flower is not the best production plant. We do make the occasional tradeoff for killer flower."

At Prima we chose the i95 because we wanted to add the gas back into commercial production. The specific pheno, named Aviator, was chosen due to structure, vigor, and (most importantly) sexual stability.  Quality testers have only noted one of the crosses, thus far, that has any sexual instability. That cross is not for sale, though it does produce some epic flower.

“What we do know is that the Aviator male has added gas to every plant we’ve tested so far – and we’re incredibly happy with the results,” says Nate. “The plants have maintained or increased yield and stayed roughly the same in testing. If the mother washed, some of the progeny will. If the mother yielded – most of the progeny will.”
